We were really shocked to learn that both the White-Backed Vulture (Gyps Africanus) and the Ruppell’s Griffon Vulture (Gyps Ruepellii) have been moved onto the Endangered Species List.
We’ve got so used to seeing these ugly buggers picking at carcasses that it’s hard to believe their numbers are falling rapidly. But according to the IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature) Red List for birds released by Birdlife International in 2012 they are amongst 1,313 globally threatened species.
